AI Designer

Describe a dashboard in plain English — the AI builds it for you, widgets and all.

The AI Designer turns a sentence into a working dashboard. Tell it what you want to see — "show me my GitHub PRs and Linear issues for this week" — and it picks the widgets, hooks them to your connected data sources, and arranges the layout.

Open the designer

You can reach the AI Designer two ways:

  • From the home screen → New dashboard → Generate with AI
  • From inside any dashboard → click the ✨ Generate button in the toolbar

How it works

  1. Describe the dashboard in the prompt box. Plain English. Be as specific or as loose as you like.
  2. Pick connected data sources the AI is allowed to use. If you want it to pull from your GitHub or Stripe, make sure those are connected under Settings → Connected apps first.
  3. Generate. The AI proposes a dashboard with widgets and layout. You see a preview before anything is saved.
  4. Refine. Don't like a widget? Type "replace the chart with a table" or "make the metric bigger". The AI updates the preview.
  5. Save when you're happy.

The generated dashboard is yours — you can edit anything by hand afterwards.

Good prompts

The more specific the prompt, the better the result. Examples that work well:

  • "A weekly engineering dashboard — open PRs, PR review time, deploy frequency, error rate from Sentry."
  • "Sales pipeline for Q4 — pipeline value, deals by stage, top 10 accounts, win rate trend."
  • "Marketing overview — website visitors from Plausible, top pages, signup conversion, and a leaderboard of UTM sources."
  • "Personal homepage — weather, clock, a quote of the day, and my GitHub contribution streak."

Tip: mention the time range ("last 30 days", "this quarter") and grouping ("by team", "by region") if it matters.

The AI chat

Inside any dashboard, the AI agent (chat icon in the corner) keeps the context of the current dashboard. You can ask:

  • "Add a chart showing weekly visitors"
  • "Why is the conversion widget showing zero?"
  • "Make the layout more compact"
  • "Change the theme to dark"

It can read what's on the dashboard, edit widgets, change layouts, and connect new data sources — all in the chat.

What it can and can't do

The AI can:

  • Create dashboards from scratch
  • Add, remove, and configure widgets
  • Suggest the right widget type for a given metric
  • Hook widgets to your connected data sources
  • Adjust layouts and themes
  • Explain what a widget is showing

The AI can't:

  • Access data sources you haven't connected
  • See data outside your account
  • Send invitations or share dashboards on your behalf

Everything the AI does in your account is logged in Settings → Audit log so you can review it.

Privacy

Prompts and generated dashboards are processed through Anthropic's Claude API. Your prompts and the dashboard structure are sent — your actual widget data is not. See Privacy policy for full details.

You can opt out of AI features under Settings → Account → AI features at any time.

Use it from Claude or Cursor

If you use Claude Desktop, Claude.ai, Cursor, or another MCP-compatible tool, you can drive widgets.pro directly from those clients — same capabilities, your own AI assistant. See the MCP guide.

Next steps

  • Templates — pre-built dashboards if you want to skip prompting.
  • Integrations — connect apps so the AI has data to work with.
  • MCP — wire widgets.pro into Claude / Cursor / VS Code.
